20 Funny and Harmless Pranks

20 Funny/Harmless Pranks
I was pretty bored today so I decided to hit up some internet forums and talk to a few friends in hopes of geing up with a funny/harmless prank list. These are some of the best I've heard. If you know of any more please don't hesitate to contact me.
1. Fake Spiders and Rodents attached to a string are a great way scare your family and friends. Have the Video Camera Ready!!!
2. Shaving Cream/Whipping Cream in the hand while sleeping. This one is an all-time classic, great for slumber parties and road trips.
3. Tabasco sauce/Vinegar in your friends soda while they're in the bathroom. Just make sure the Restaurant has a free refill policy.
4. Signing your friends up for useless newsletters they would have no need for; i.e. Signing a friend up for the Onion Lovers Newsletter when he/she absolutely hates onions.
5. Sending your friend a professional looking email that says they're in trouble or being sued. Make sure it's pretty long and put the phrase "Just Kidding" in huge letters at the very bottom.
6. Fake bullet holes, scratch, rust, or dent buckles on your friends car, especially funny if they have an extremely nice car.
7. Springing out of the Garbage Can, Hamper, Washing Machine, etc... another great video camera ready prank.
8. Hanging a mask one foot in front of your friends door so when they open it they walk into it. Especially funny at night.
9. Popping a balloon or setting off fireworks while your friends are sleeping.
10. Replace your friends important project with junk paper while they're in the bathroom, then spill a coke on the fake project and start cursing. Their reaction is usually priceless.
11. Have a constantly late/plan breaking friend? Tell them about a party you're having far out of town in your cabin or friends cabin. Give them fake directions or make up the party gepletely.
12. 3am hang-ups are always fun when you have a friend who always calls you too late.
13. Filling a friends answering machine with fake messages is great, especially when they're the kind of person who listens to every message in full all the time.
14. If you're all hanging out at a friends house, orchestrate a cell-phone bombing. Set your friends number on speed dial and phone him from separate cell phones. Only works if he doesn't have call display.
15. Friend Passed Out? Make-up and facial drawings are always funny. Just keep it civilized.
16. Gross substances (Vaseline, Lipstick, etc...) on doorknobs is always hilarious.
17. A suction cup on the forehead while sleeping leaves a great mark. Just make sure your friend doesn't have anything important to do in the next couple days.
18. Fake emails from a secret admirer that continually get crazy, take it to stalker level before you tell him/her that you're the one writing them.
19. Really Passed out Friend? Shave half their body. Use an electric razor to avoid razor burn.
20. Toilet paper/Confetti is always great, it's even better if you have a key to their place.
21. If you have a ton of time, make a fake website about them and send out an email announcing it. Photoshop pictures of them in fake situations. Let him/her find it on their own.

5 Easy Ways to Make Money This Weekend Vol. 1

5 Easy Ways to Make Money This Weekend Vol. 1
1. Organize a Local Sports Tourney: Ok... this will take about a week to organize but the actual tourney itself will take place over Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday. I'll use Basketball as an example. You can rent a school gym for like $15 for 2 hours or you can rent it for an entire day for anywhere from $50 to $100. If you have each team pay an entry fee with first prize being 50% of the entry fee you can take home anywhere from $250 to $500 for a single tourney. You can sell pop and snacks to make even more money. A 24-pack of Pop is $5.00 if you sell each pop for $1.00 you can make $19, if you sell bulk bags of chips or hotdogs you can make another $20 for 25 items sold. Think of this over a 3-day period.
2. Host a Video Game Tourney: Do you have a big screen TV. Or two? Host a Video Game Tournament. Make it a single/double elimination with a buy in of $10/$20 where the winner takes home 50% of the pot. Sports games and First Person shooters work the best for this type of tourney. Like the other tourney idea you can sell pop and food to make bigger profits.
3. Visit Swap Meets, Thrift Stores, Flea Markets, and Garage Sales every Saturday: Look for great deals on all kinds of different products that you can resell on okay or in your very own Garage sale. Books, CDs, Movies, Video games, and Toys are all big sellers as long as they are in decent condition.
4. Use your Digital Camera: Spend you Saturday taking beautiful pictures, spend Sunday turning those pictures into postcards, greeting cards, online greeting cards, screensavers, buttons, book covers, or anything else you can think of. You can market postcards and greeting cards to your local shops, and even offer to sell your screensaver to the city (the city can then put it on it's website to generate tourism)
5. Moving Man/Woman: If you own a truck you can offer to help people move every Saturday. Customers pay for gas, lunch, and your hourly fee. This is a simple way to make an extra $100-$200 every weekend. People move everyday, cash in on it.
I hope you've enjoyed this guide. If you do PLEASE REMEMBER TO VOTE.

JEANS TOO LONG? WAIST TOO TIGHT? ALTERNATIVE TO HEMMING

I would like to share this little secret I figured out as an alternative to hemmingSeven for all Mankindjeans that are a little too long and a trick to add up to an inch to the waist measure for when your jeans are a little tight in the waist. ESPECIALLY for rigid jeans but will work for any pair of yourfave jeans! If you are like me, I like my jeans to be a little too long especially when wearing high heels with my favorite jeans because I like that elongated look you get from the front view.I think it takes 10 pounds off your look. They only problem is the hems drag in the back and they get all chewed up from your heel and walking on them. If you hem them, you lose that long look in the front. Here is the trick: turn the jeans inside out, fold the center of the back hem of the jeans up and put a few simple hand stitches in toraise the hem only in theback where your heel is situated. In the back you can have the hem fall just at the heel so they just barely graze the ground when you walk and still have thefront long and unhemmed. It soundsit would be visible but it is really not. Here is a picture of my favorite seven for all mankinds done this way. I think it looks great from front to back and I won't put any wear on the hems. Just a little alternative to hemming you may find works for you!!! The last pic is another trick. These are the same Seven for all Mankind jeans. You ever have a pair of jeans that fit perfect but the waist is just a tad too tight but fit great everywhere else?? me too! Or when you are bloated you have to unbutton the button?? Usually there is a little space next to the button where you can sew on another button for when you are a little bloated or when you just a little extra room in the waist. This way you are securely buttoned up without busting a gut!! If you wear a belt, no one can see it or even if you wear a top that covers it in the front. I hope you find these hints helpful!!! IF YOU DID, VOTE YES AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE!! THAN YOU VERY MUCH!!!

Garmin Nuvi 660 Best Portable GPS available!

I have sold so many that I ended up getting my own just to see what all of the excitement was about! Garmin's newly released Nuvi 660 with bluetooth is an easy to use, sophisticated, newly designed wide screen portable GPS with Bluetooth.
I personally could not understand why people would want bluetooth on their GPS if they had a bluetooth headset. When I got my Nuvi 660 and paired it to my Motorola Bluetooth phone I fell in love with Garmin's bluetooth enabled feature. Here is why:
Normally with a bluetooth heaset over my ear, when it rings and I am driving I can't see who is calling without fumbling for my phone. When it is paired up with the Nuvi it flashes the ingeing call accross the screen with caller ID, and if it is a contact from your cell phone it displays their name as you have it in your phonebook. You also have the choice to tap "ignore" or "Answer".
When I answered my first ingeing call, not only is it "handsfree and you see who is calling, it is also heard through a clear crisp speaker and the person I talked to said I sounded normal, it was clear! I am now in love with the bluetooth.
To make a call I can do it from my GPS, I can dial a new number, choose one from my phonebook or even just click dial on any menu I route to!
Example: If I am traveling and looking for a hotel, I search for one near me in the nuvi database. Once I find one I like I can route to it by tapping "go" and I can call by just tapping the phone icon, it will dial it as their phone number is also stored in the GPS! A very cool feature for travelers! Or even just to order a pizza etc in your own neighborhood without having to look up their number in the phonebook! I am amazed at the bluetooth quality and features.
This GPS is so easy to use. I have sold every GPS on the market for 2 years now and have loved them all, but to date this is simply the best.
I also love the fact that you can find a destination by longitude and lattitude, many other GPS units for auto do not have this feature, usually the outdoor handhelds do so this is another plus for this unit. Great for homeowners and or realtors determining and measuring property lines etc...
The larger screen and bright graphics and icons make this GPS easy to see and easy to use.
Go to your nearest electronics store to play with one and when you are ready to buy gee back and save big on okay! :)

What is REIKI?

Reiki is a simple and powerful system of energy work, done by laying of hands and remotely. Reiki energy benefits the body and the mind at emotional and spiritual levels by releasing blocked energy and promotings relaxation which reduces stress. Reiki enery goes wherever it's needed in the body, helping to cleanse the body of toxins. It is regemended to drink lots of water after a Reiki session. Reiki also works on plants and animals, pets love it. Over time it can help in the development of your intuition, meditation skills and personal spiritual evolution.
Reiki is a system of energy healing originating in Japan using methods channeled by Dr. Mikao Usui. It started at the end of a 21 day fast and meditation on Mount Kuruama in Japan. The actual history of Reiki has been somewhat shrouded in legend. Only recently has information about Usui Sensei's real life begee available outside of Japan. What is certain is that The Usui System of Natural Healing was introduced to the west by Mrs. Hawayo Takata from Hawaii, who received Reiki Attunements from Dr. Hayashi, who had a Reiki clinic in Tokyo. She was visiting relatives in Japan and had successful treatments for a chronic illness at Dr. Hayashi's Clinic.
Reiki and other healing energies are valuable tools for anyone whether they have health, emotional, mental, spiritual issues or want to empower their personal evolution. Many also enjoy regular hands on Reiki treatments as a refreshing and relaxing treat for themselves, in the same way that they might get a massage or a facial, a guided visualization session or a mud bath. Fees for Reiki treatments and attunements vary greatly and range from free to expensive. Reiki is available to all persons regardless of age or circumstance, it does not require years of study and can open the door to a higher part of your own spiritual being.
Having and using Reiki increases the flow of higher vibrations of energy through your aura and into the physical body. Reiki energy works to harmonize or bring into balance the total you, yourphysical, emotional, mental and spiritual self. You can learn to give Reiki treatments to yourself, family, friends, animals and plants. Reiki energy treats and energizes youwhile you are treating others. The use of Reiki as a relaxation and stress reducing technique is begeing accepted and widespread; and it enhances other bodywork and healing practices.
The ability to channel specific healing energy is awakened in others by a process called attunement. Anyone can get these attunements and channel Reiki, it requires no special abilities and is a reliable way of doing healing treatments for yourself and others. During hands on treatments the practitioner places their hands on locations that correspond to traditional chakracentersand includes many of the the Hawaiian Ao system energy centers. The hand positions are not exclusive to Reiki and effective Reiki Treatments may be done simply by placing a hand any where on the body or by advanced practitioners without body contact at all. Remote treatments are done with visualization and have proven to be just as affective as hands on.
Reiki helps with personal spiritual development, so as to connect with your spiritual energy , information, experiences andto release emotional blocks and trauma. The energies are very responsive andwill go to where most needed without intellectual direction from the practitioner.
The Reiki Principles:
I will give thanks for my many blessings
Just for today I will not anger
Just for today I will not worry
I will do my work honestly
I will show kindness to people and all living things

Plantronics Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset

I was exiceted when I received this bluetooth ear piece because I was
tired of using chord ear pieces due to the cables getting tangled
everytime you take them out. I was dissapointed with the 510 because
out of the box couldn't connect to my Nokia 6682 and I had to configure
it 5 times until finaly the phone recognized it. I had the piece for
about 1 year now and it's pretty durable, light and battery life is
excellent. I can walk around my apartment with no problem and I can
talk for many hours without recharging. My 510 came with 3 ear
detachable tips with sponge covers. Ear tips are detachable for
different ear cannal sizes, 2 sponge covers for the mic piece which I
never used. I have lost the ear tip pieces because sometimes they gee
off. I gave it 3 stars because my friends can't hear me when the wind
blows or when there is background noise. Also, from time to time the
bluetooth connection will drop from the 510 back to the phone then back
to the 510 and it's very annoying. If it wasn't for the background
noise of the wind I would've gave it 5 stars.

Anniversary - Jeannette Glass Company - 1947 - 1949

This is a late Depression era glassware, but a lot of people do collect it. I have seen this pattern a lot at flea markets, swap meets and antique stores. They began reproducing it in the 70's, often sellers list it as CARNIVAL GLASS, though I don't beleive it has the true beauty that Carnival Glass does.
This is considered by many not to be a major pattern. Do not get anything that is water stained as it will decrease the value of the piece.

I THINK ITS STERLING SILVER???

I HAVE SEEN THE FOLLOWING STATEMENTS IN MANY LISTINGS FOR ITEMS THAT WERE SUPPOSED TO BE STERLING SILVER. STATEMENTS: IT FEELS LIKE STERLING, IT LOOKS LIKE STERLING, THATS WHAT THE ANTIQUE DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS. THATS WHAT THE AUCTIONER SAID IT WASWHEN I WAS BIDDING ON IT. ITS NOT MARKED BUT I KNOW ITS STERLING. I AM SELLING FOR A FRIEND AND THAT ISWHAT THEY TOLD ME IT WAS. WE ONLY GO BY WHAT THE ACTUAL SELLER TELLS US. I AM SURE YOU HAVE HEARD THEM ALL TOO, BUT WHY IS IT THAT NEVER, NOT EVEN ONCE WAS THE ITEM ACTUALLY STERLING? ALSO ANY LISTING THAT CLAIMS THE ITEM TO BE "STERLING?" AND THERE IS A QUESTION MARK AFTER THE WORD STERLING, {SO FAR FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN}, 100% OF THE TIME IS WAS NOT STERLING. WHO DO THESE PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE FOOLING? MY ADVICE IS NOT TO BID ON ANY SUCH ITEMS. LASTLY, MY FAVORITE SITUATION IS WHEN A SELLER STATES THAT THE ITEM IS STERLING SILVER IN THE TITLE BUT LISTS THE gePOSITION AS SILVERPLATE. MAYBE JUST AN ERROR YOU SAY? I SAY NOT, AND I SAY STAY AWAY FROM THAT SELLERS ITEMS. P.S. MAKE SURE YOU LIST THE CORRECT WEIGHT OF STERLING SILVER ITEMS. SCALES DON'T LIE BUT PEOPLE SURE DO..

CHOOSING A CHILD'S FIRST DIGITAL CAMERA

Wondering how to pick the perfect camera for your child? Here's the nitty gritty about choosing your child's first camera, including what to consider, what's available, andwhat works best with little hands.
Every parent knows that children love cameras, from either side of the lens.Digital photography has madeit fast and affordable totake dozens -- or even hundreds or thousands -- of pictures when trying to get the perfect shot, which means our children often see us with a camera in our hands. And of course our children want to be like Mom and Dad, and have a camera of their own.
For many of us, buying a camera for ourwanna-be-photographers is the only way tokeep our own cameras safe. Purchasing a child-friendly camera is also a terrific way to share one of our favorite hobbies, and to encourage our children to look more closely at the world around them.
When choosing a child's first camera, you'll want to consider the following questions:

Is the camera easy to use?

Regardless of the child's age, a first camera should be easy to useright out of the box.A simple to operate point-and-shoot model will meet the needs of all beginning photographers. To guarantee success, your child's first camera shouldn't have too many buttons or options.

Is the camera friendly to small hands?

Your child's camera will need to be large enough to be held easily, and buttons should be large and conveniently placed. Preschool and kindergarten aged children do well with the Fisher Price Kid Tough Digital Camera, which has large dual hand-holds with slip-resistant bumps for a steady grip.Slightly older childrensometimes prefer the Kidz Cam Digital Camera, which is much smaller and requires a much higher degree of fine motor skills (note:the Kidz Camdoesn't have a display screen, so it's necessary to transfer the pictures toa geputer in order to view them).

Are the viewfinder and LCD display screen large enough?
Is the camera durable and will it hold up to everyday bumps and spills?
How much memory does the camera have, and can the memory be expanded?

Cameras that allow you to install a larger memory card will allow your child to take more photos.

Does the camera gee with a USB cable to connect to your home geputer?

You'll need to transfer the pictures from the camera to your geputer, or perhaps you'll want to connect the camera directly to a printer. Either way, you'll need a cable to hook the two together.

What type of software is included with the camera?

You need software to transfer photos from the camera to the geputer or printer. Most newer home geputers have photo transfer software installed, and the camera will also have appropriate software included on a CD. If you lose the software CD, you can usually download a free copy of your missing software directly from the camera manufacturer's website.
Some children's digital cameras gee with additional software that allows the child to create projects with their photos.
Here's a list of cameras that might be appropriate for your child's first camera:

Cell Phone Buying Guide for TMobile Users

If you are a T-Mobile user, what cell phone should you get? Should you buy an unlocked GSM phone or use a T-Mobile branded phone?
Let's look at the pros and cons of both:
T-Mobile branded phones: Pros- if you purchase a contract, you can get a phone for a great price. My regemendation is to go online to letstalk.ge. You can buy a one year contract. They have wonderful support and service, and a great selection of phones. Cons: TMobile branded phones restrict or limit quite a few features/goodies or options on their cell phones. You cannot use Opera Mini, Google Maps or even use your own ringtones, gamesor wallpapers. Limited WAP access.
Unlocked phones: Pros-depending on the phone you buy, you can easily set up yourSMS, web and email settings. You can use the $5.99 Tzones to surf the web, download your own games, themes and ringtones. Cons: unlocked phones cost more (but they are worth it becauseall the wonderfulfeatures of the cell phone are not disabled).
If you don't want a lot offeatures (such as email, web, games, themes, and ringtones) and are price conscious, buy a T-Mobile brandedphone when you get your contract. If you want to use all the features of your new phone, and can afford to spend $200 or more, definitely buy an unlocked GSM cell phone.
Important: T-Mobile uses the frequency 850 MHz in rural roaming areas. If you will be using T-Mobile in roaming areas, you will need to buy a QUAD band GSM phone to get the best reception. (If you are in a city, you may not need to use the 850mhz, and therefore can chose a triband.)
What do you want your phone to do? Things to consider:
Great reception (after all, it is a phone first!), Camera (why carry both a cell phone and a camera?) MP3 player (again, why carry 2 devices??), Email and internet access using the $5.99 t-zones plan (why pay for the expensive tmobile internet? ); Text and Picture messaging; ...good Battery life... customizable phone so your phone will be different than anyone elses, a great full color screen....
Which phone to chose? It depends on your pocketbook and your personallikes. Do you like a candybar, slider or clamshell? The top4 manufacturers are 1)NOKIA, 2)Sony-Ericsson, 3) Motorola, 4) Samsung. (I put them in order of my preference :))
Best reception phones (best to last for TMobile, testedin rural areas): 1) Nokia 2)Sony-Ericsson; 3) Motorola; 4) Samsung
Best camera phones; Best Full Color Screen phones;: 1) Nokia 2)Sony-Ericsson
Best MP3 phones: Sony Ericsson walkmanseries
Best customizable phones: Motorola
I hope this guide has helped you get started choosing the right phone for you. If you need help choosing a brand based on its capabilities, please look at my reviews on mid to high priced cell phones. You can also email me if you have any questions!

Collecting Promo Movie/DVD Release Pins Buttons

To start, let's define what a promo movie/dvd release pin is. You've seen them. When you go to Wal*Mart or Blockbusteryou may have seen some ofthe workerswearing them. They are the official pin the movie studio approved to be given to retailers to help advertise/promote a new movie or DVD release.
Pin collecting is not a new hobby however collecting movie/dvd release pins or buttons is starting to grow in popularity. Why? There are a few reasons I've found true for myself.
Mostly it's because Ilikedthe movie.Maybe something significant happenedin my life thatwas inspired by the movie.Maybesome event occured as a result of seeing the movie or I just have some good memories of the time period the movie was out. I also like the looks of thepins. Many times there are pictures of themovie's star or some appealing graphic. I think though a big reason is, it's a cheap hobby.Much of my collection was obtained free by going to video stores and asking for them. Some places would give me bags of pins while others would not give a single one.
To be honest, the past couple of years was really good. Nowdays, many video stores, (including Wal*Mart), just don't getmany anymore. That's good and bad. Bad because it makes collecting them much harder. Good because it makes what you have more desirable which equates to more valuable. Also, many employees, who at one time did not care about even wearing them at work, do so now and know that they could be sold on e-bay so they keep them.
Some pins gee in sets, or in other words, there can be a few to several different pins for the one movie. Each pin will have a different character or scene from the movie. Some great examplesare Shark Tale, (there were 8 different character pins), a couple of Harry Potter movies, Ice Age: The Meltdown, Batman and Robin, Lord of the Rings, (there arethree 12 pin sets.Onefor each movie).
Some pins have special effects. One of my favorites, and the first effect pin I got, is for Men in Black. The picture is of agents J and K holding two big alien killer guns. The tips have a light that flashes red when the battery in the back of the pin is activated. This may be the firstflash movie releasepin made. Also, it wasexclusive to Wal*Martmaking itextremely rare. Although there are plenty of Wal*Marts, this pin was verylimited. Some Wal*Martsdid notget any.Another flashing pin is from Terminator 3-Rise of the Machines. The T-2's eye will flash red. I Robot has a two set pin. One of Will Smith and one ofSonny who's insides flash like in the movie when a robot was activated. Some pins have a lenticular motion effect. Disney made a few. There's one for The Fox and Hound, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, to name a few. Most of the timeif there is a special effect pin there is a regular version of it too. Independence Day has a motion pin and also non motion version of the samepin, (The White House being blown up).Special effect pins are much more expensive to make and out number the regular version by quite a bit. 100 to 1 is not an unrealistic figure. Some pins are rare just because there were not many distributed. The Matrix Revolutions is a good example. There is a four pin set that is very hard to find.
Movie theaters is another good source for pins but your best bet is to go to a largemultiplex type,(the smaller theaters won't likely get any), and go early, even a week before a movie is due to be released. Pins from movie theaters, have so far, been totally different than the DVD release pins. Usually it's just one version though. A set of different pins for one movie would be rare and I can only think of X-Men I or II that had about a 20 pin set thatwere sent to theaters. A whole set of those would be a really great, rare, find.
Another source for pins is trading with others. The problem is there is no resource for doing this. There are many pinback collector clubs but they mainly specialize in Disney, McDonald types. Almost anything but DVD/movie release pins. If I had the time I would setup a website for this hobby. I hope to do so after the holidays. If you know of any, let me know and I'll mention it in this guide but I can not set a link to it as that is prohibited by e-bay.
Buying pins online ismy last resort. I use online to fill in the holes of my collection. Cost is one issue. One person can be selling a pin for $5.00 that another is selling for .99 cents.Another problem that gees out of buying onlineis thatyou can build up a lot of doubles. Some people sell pins by the set, singly, or by a group that are not related to each other. So if you want one pin out of 20 a person is selling, you will likely have to buy them all. Most sellers don't want to get into, selling you one, another wants 2, and so on. A couple of cool things about buying online is you can find ones you might not get otherwise, especially older pins, and sometimes you can find pins released in other countries that are totally different than the U.S. versions. I boughta really nice 8 pin theater setof The Incredibles from someone in Canada. Be wary though. Some listings are touted as beingDVD/movie release promo buttons when in fact they are new pins privately made by that seller. Likely you have an idea of what officially studio approved pins look like. They can gee in all shapes and sizes. Some are cardboard, plastic, paper covered with a plastic film, or the most gemon, a thin sheet of metal over cardboard.Look at the sellers other items. If all of the sellers button auctionshave the same appearance, they are likely homemade. Most homemade pinsare usuallyonlyround and have severalbuttons, (any number possible),being sold as a set. They can be very nice looking but if you had the right machine, (which is relatively cheap), you could make your own.
If youbuy pins online, look at shipping costs. Some people charge a few to severaldollars to mail one pin that should cost about 75 cents in a small bubble mailer. Probably even more than one could be sent as cheaply. Contact the seller and ask why the shipping is so high. Sometimes they will work with you, sometimes not. Also remember that as it is with most collectibles, condition is the key factor unless you find the only pin of it's kind ever made. Then condition is second to rarity. Who wants a pin with a big dent or scratch.Look at pictures very well and ALWAYS ASK QUESTIONS! Many listings may not describe damage. I know because I've bought some before I knew better. It's not that the seller is trying to be deceptive, (although you and I know some are), they just may not think that matters or don't even think about it at all.
This hobby is one of the most underrated there is. There are listings on e-bay and elsewherefor these types of pins but considering the amountof pins that are out there, the sellers are few and far between.
There are many pin collecting clubs but they are mainly for the traditional pinback types, Disney, McDonalds, almost anything except DVD/movie release pins. If I ever have the time I would like to setup a website for this hobby. If you know of any, let me know and I'll include it in this guide.
I'm always happy to trade pins.Let me know what you need and what you have to trade. I have many duplicates so I'm very generous if you have what I need.
Remember, reading a guide islike reading about other's mistakes and misfortunes. We all learn from our mistakes. Those of us deeply entrenched in a hobby learn about the problems faster.Wewrite these guides to help you aviod them.

Understanding Gram Sizes When Buying Mineral Makeup

Understanding Sizes and Amount When Buying Mineral Makeup
When you begin using mineral makeup one of the most confusing things is all the different sifter jar sizes and the corresponding amount of product that fits in them. If you are buying brand name, such as Bare Escentuals, the amount it what is on the factory made label. However, when buying other Private Label Brands, it can get more confusing. After weighing and selling my own minerals I decided to write this guide is to help you gain a better understanding of what your buying and what you are getting.
Jar Sizes and Corresponding Amounts
Please keep in mind that when you are buying mineral makeup the jar size DOES NOT mean the amount that will be in the jar, it simply refers to the jars volume. For example, a 5 gram jar does not contain 5 grams of minerals. Also, minerals vary in weight slightly due to the ingredients, so all weights are approximate.

5 gram jars with a sifter hold appx 1.5 - 2 grams of minerals
10 gram jars with a sifter hold appx 3 - 3.5grams of minerals
30 grams jars with a sifter hold appx 8 - 10 grams of minerals
Teaspoons and Grams

1/2 tsp is appx 1 gram
1/4th tsp is appc .5 grams
How Long Does This Last?

9 grams of foundation will last appx 6-12 months, even with daily use
1.5 - 3 grams of eye shadow, blush,or bronzerwill last appx 6-12 months
1/4th tsp of foundation will last about a month, 1/8th should last about 2 weeks
1/8th tsp of eye shadow, blush or bronzer should last about a month
I hope this guide helps you choose the right mineral cosmetic products. Happy Shopping!!

Rokal TT-Scale Trains

The Rokal model train line was manufactured in the Rhineland of West Germany from about 1947 until about 1969. The product line is nominally TT Scale (1:120 proportion), but it varies slightly from other lines of TT trains such as HP, Kemtron and others. It is a robust line, with most of the logeotives made of die-cast metal or metal and plastic, with freight and passenger cars items made of plastic or metal. Like many other brands of trains manufactured in Germany, the Rokal line was a geplete range, including everything necessary to produce a geplete layout.Although most of the trains were of European prototypes, Rokal also manufactured some United States prototype trains. The Rokal gepany produced track, signals, and other geponents for their line of trains, also. Although Rokal continues as a manufacturer of metal castings today, the model train line ceased production around the time of death for Robert Karmann, the gepanys founder and a major force behind Rokals train production. The Rokal model train tooling was sold to Rwa of Nerdlen-Kradenbach, which produced the line for, perhaps, two additional years. The Rwa gepany went bankrupt in the early 1970's, and the tooling was then apparently sold to Roco of Austria. The product line then disappeared since much of the Rokal tooling would have needed to be upgraded to meet the standards present in today's model train market. So, it is presumed that the Rokal items present now in the market are the final extent of production. Late in Rokal's production, some items were manufactured as a joint venture with Zeuke

Winter Care for Horses

1) The Pastured Horse : Stalling is not necessary for all horses, but protection from the winter elements is necessary. Horses acclimate to winter conditions extremely well, but need to be able to escape the bitter winds and moisture. A small, three sided run-in shed or timberline to provide escape from strong winds and snow or ice is often all that is necessary for pastured horses. Horses provided shelter will require less feed, can more easily maintain body weight and are less stressed. These effects make the cost of sheds and windbreaks more attractive by reducing feed bills and reducing stress related sickness.
If a three sided shed is used, the open side of the shed should be opposite the prevailing wind. Each mature horse should have at least 80 square feet. The back wall should be 9' high, and the opening needs to be 11-12' tall. A 4-6' overhang will help prevent rain and snow from blowing into the shed. Sheds should be located so they have adequate drainage. Make sure that the entrance is big enough so that any bullies in the herd do not get an opportunity to corner the other horses. If your horse will have access to a run-in shed, it should be cleaned out prior to winter really setting in. Remove old bedding and manure, and re-bed the shed with 4" to 8" inches of fresh bedding.
Check the drainage to be sure that water will not run into the shed. Make sure there are no loose boards or nails in the shed. Horses are active and prone to injuries.
Observe the horses for any indication of ill health or abnormalities, while they are turned out on a regular basis. A shiny, glossy hair coat is one of the best indicators of a healthy horse. Hair coat is reflective of good nutrition and health. When in a pasture, lot, or paddock horses normally try to stay in a group -- a horse off to itself may be hurt or ill. Horses normally have firm manure balls that are not loose and watery and do not contain undigested grains, etc. Urine is normally wheat-straw colored and not cloudy or dark red.
Care should be taken when leaving younger, less experienced horses on winter pasture. Running an older horse as a "baby sitter" can help teach the youngsters how to find shelter, food and water. Additionally, the "baby sitter" often has a calming effect on the young herd and reduces the chances of them running through fences and such.
Check your fence line periodically during the winter to ensure that downed trees or other hazards have not opened sections of your fencing. Also in the case of electric fencing, the level of the snow can short out a fence line. Hungry animals are more apt to challenge a fence than well fed ones. The solution is to arrange for more feed, not build a fortress fence.
2) The Stalled Horse : Horse owners will have much less labor, and at times healthier horses, if they are turned out during the winter months. Many horses wintered in closed barns develop respiratory problems. Damp stalls, ammonia build up, and poor ventilation all contribute to respiratory problems. When the barn is closed up, because of rain or cold weather, ammonia, dust, and stale air are trapped in the barn. Good ventilation is crucial. Research indicates that most of the ammonia and dust are below the level of 2 to 3 feet. This makes air quality a big problem for young horses. Therefore, it is important to have good ventilation and air flow through the barn to maintain good air quality and minimize respiratory problems. Horses tolerate a wide range of temperatures. In an unheated building with low air movement, the only horses likely to experience cold stress are new born foals or young stock whose metabolic rates are low because of disease or malnutrition.
It is critical to ensure thorough movement of air in a stable. The air should be allowed entrance at a low level, then be drawn out the top of the barn. Drafts at the level of a horses body trunk should be avoided, as these can result in chills.
Several management practices can assist in improving the air quality in a barn.
First, the barn should be designed where the prevailing wind can move through the barn. Even though it may be cold outside, it is better to open the barn doors and have good air flow than to reduce air quality and increase the probability of respiratory problems.
Second, the barn should be designed to have good air flow through vents on the sides and in the roof to maintain air flow when barn doors are closed.
Third, cleaning stalls daily and removing manure and wet bedding greatly improves the quality of the air.
A fourth suggestion is to design the bottom of the stall to allow good air flow at ground level. Slatted boards at the bottom of the stall up to 4 to 5 feet are regemended to allow air flow at ground level. Wire panels or metal bars are normally regemended for the upper half of the stall.
Preparing your barn for winter depends on where you live. In the South, with its mild winters, there will not be much need for expensive heating systems and heated water tanks. In the North, however, where areas may be snowed in for a length of time, it is essential to ensure that your barn is self sufficient and capable of riding out winter's worst.
Make sure that you have enough feed, bedding and hay and that they are stored in a dry place with feed in rodent proof containers.
Check your water supply. Insulate above ground piping with wrap around insulation, available from most hardware stores. For interior buckets that freeze overnight; various insulating devices are available, which your water buckets fit down inside. Heating elements that hook over the side of the bucket are also available. Resist the temptation to close every window and door in the barn. It's better to put an extra blanket on, if necessary, than to keep horses in a gepletely closed barn. Have your electrical wiring checked over. You will use the interior lighting more often in winter, it's best to avert a fire hazard.
Health Care: Maintain a good dental program and parasite control program. Teeth should be checked for wear and floated if needed. Sharp edges can cut the tongue and prevent proper chewing, which results in wasted feed and poor feed utilization. Normal healthy horses chew evenly with both sides of their mouth and show predictable enthusiasm for eating.
Mucous Membrane ColorThe membranes of the horse's gums and lip should be a healthy pink color. Pale white, yellow, or deep purple colors are all cause for concern.
Legs should be kept clean. Mud and snow will accumulate on long hair (feathers) of the fetlock and cannon. Keep them clean and remove caked mud, snow, and manure. Soreness and ulceration can develop if cleanliness is not maintained.
Hoof care must be kept on schedule throughout the winter. Shoes should be pulled unless you plan to ride on rough surfaces. Care should be taken not to trim horses too closely to prevent bruised, sore feet from the frozen ground.
In winter weather, the horse should be cooled out slowly by rubbing down and walking. A horse may need to be walked for up to 45 minutes after an intense workout.
Impaction colic begees more prevalent during cold weather. This normally occurs because the horse does not consume an adequate amount of water during cold weather and does not have an adequate amount of water in his digestive tract for digestion. Water should be warmed so that the horse will consume adequate amounts.
Wet conditions can cause the outer covering of the foot to deteriorate, which causes cracking and splitting. Mud and sand can work their way into the cracks, causing the hoof to spread even further. Every effort should be made to keep the hoof wall intact. This can be done by keeping the hoof as dry as possible and applying hoof dressing regularly. Hoof dressing has waterproofing properties that keeps water from soaking into the foot.
Update any needed vacinations, make sure the horse has been immunized against tetanus. Horses often get undetected cuts in the winter that are an ideal environment for the tetanus microorganism.
Assessing The Horses Condition: For a horse to be an "easy keeper" during the winter he needs to be free of parasites, in good flesh, and properly immunized going into the winter. The cost of deworming, veterinarian checkups, and immunizations will more than pay for themselves in reduced feed costs through the stressful winter months. Work with your vet to set up a health program for each of your horses and stick with it.
We tend to think that if we are cold, our horses must be cold, too.Not necessarily so. Preconditioning horses before the onset of cold temperatures helps to reduce the effect of cold weather on the horse and will reduce his nutritional needs to maintain weight. A horse shouldn't lose weight in the winter. In fact, a little extra layer of fat to fend off the cold won't hurt. Fat cover acts as an insulator and provides energy reserves during stress. Altering your feeding program for the upgeing winter by providing some extra calories will allow horses to lay down an insulating layer of fat under the skin.
The horse's winter coat is a horse's first defense from the cold. When allowed to grow, a horse's natural hair coat acts as a very effective thermal blanket, it increases both in length and density as the days grow shorter. A horse's winter coat is also naturally greasy, which helps it repel snow, ice, and sleet. A heavy winter hair coat is a tremendous insulator and provides as much warmth as the best blankets. Horses that are to be maintained outside should be allowed to grow a long hair coat, plus the hair within the ears and around the fetlocks should not be clipped throughout the winter months. Horses have the ability to fluff out their coats in cold weather, thereby trapping a layer of air in the coat which provides them an insulating layer. Once the hair coat begees wet, the hair lies down and loses its insulating ability.
Stabled horses may need blanketing when they're turned out during the day, but the best blanket for an outside horse is his own full winter coat. If you do blanket your horse, make sure you take it off and brush him often. Also, realize that a blanket that is not warm enough is worse than no blanket at all. A blanket keeps the coat flat, again causing loss of insulating ability.
Horses add body fat from front to rear and top to bottom. Evaluate their necks, withers, covering over their rib cages and croups, and around their tailheads for deposition of fat. It is really important that you feel your horses in winter due to their heavier winter haircoat. Often, one cannot accurately evaluate a horse's body condition by only visual appraisal. It is important to body condition score your horse each month in winter. By the time you see that the horse is getting thinner, it's too late and it may be difficult for horses to increase body condition during extremely cold weather. During long periods of freezing temperatures, most horses will experience some loss of body condition, no matter how well they are fed.
A horse's ears are said to be a good indicator of whether or not he is cold - cold ears mean a cold horse. Also, watch to see if your horse is shivering, a warm blooded animal shivers to produce more body heat, if they are shivering, they are not warm enough.
As with all warm-blooded animals, horses must maintain their body temperature to survive. The temperature, wind chill factor, wetness, hair coat and the heat produced within the body determine the extent to which heat must be conserved. As environmental temperatures fall below the individual horses gefort zone, heat production is increased by the body by speeding up chemical reactions, which produce heat.
The gebination of a cold wind and rain or sleet is probably the worst case scenario for a horse. Under those conditions, without shelter, he can quickly begee chilled. Older horses, in particular (from their late teens on up), tend to have difficulty maintaining their internal temperatures in such circumstances. The effects of falling temperatures, wind and wet conditions will put a enormous requirement on the horse's body for heat production. How much body condition a horse loses depends on the severity and duration of the cold season and the amount of energy the horse receives from its feed.
When temperatures dip, the best heat source for your horse is extra hay. During the cold weather it is best to increase the amount of hay, not concentrated feeds. Hay is digested in the cecum and colon which results in heat production by bacterial fermentation. On the other hand, concentrated feed is primarily digested in the small intestine in a short amount of time and does not produce much heat. This means a greater amount of heat is produced through the utilization of hay than utilization of grain. This makes hay a more desirable way to meet a horses' elevated energy requirements. Supplementation with grain is only necessary if horses have difficulty in maintaining body condition. Therefore, horses maintained in extremely cold conditions for an extended period, with minimal shelter may need grain supplementation to meet their energy demands.
The first step to winterizing for your horse is knowing the nutrient value of your hay. Your local county Extension office can assist you in getting your hay tested. The test will take several weeks to get the results back, so plan ahead. While you are waiting on your hay sample, find out the nutritional requirements of your horse. There are nutritional tables that determine equine nutritional requirements, which can be found in reference books, or in some cases, your feed store may have a copy. The nutritional requirements are based on age, size, reproductive stage (mares), and amount of work.
When your hay sample results are returned, gepare the nutrient value of your hay to the nutrient requirements of your horse(s). Every horse should be fed as an individual. You will need to calculate your horses' weight to determine his feeding needs. Once you have your horse's weight, there's a simple rule of thumb you can use to determine how much feed your horse should be getting each day. The total weight of feed per day should be between 1.5% and 3.0% of your horse's body weight.
Extra calories are particularly important for older horses in winter, regemendations are that horses on the high side of 20 years be fed at least 120% of the National Research Council's regemendations for daily intake (from 1.5% to 3.0% of the horse's body weight).
Many adult horses can maintain body condition on a geplete diet of a good quality hay with access to free choice trace mineralized salt. Adult horses should consume between 1.5 and 2 percent of their body weight in hay or a 1,000 lb. horse will eat 15 to 20 lb. of hay per day. Supplementation with grain is only necessary if horses have difficulty in maintaining body condition. Therefore, horses maintained in extremely cold conditions for an extended period, with minimal shelter may need grain supplementation to meet their energy demands. In cases where a gebination of hay and grain will be required to meet the nutritional needs of the horse, savings may be realized without affecting the horse if you can utilize more of the cheaper hay and less of the more expensive grain. Make sure that vitamin and mineral requirements are met as well. Get in enough good hay to last through until next year's hay crop. To calculate how much you need, figure on half a square (50 LB) bale per horse per day then add some to cover for the occasional moldy bale or extra cold weather.
Providing more hay is fairly simple; just feed an extra flake or two per meal, and monitor how much your horse eats and how well he maintains his weight. Since a horse's tendency is to be wasteful and trample the hay into the ground, you'll need to allow at least 25% extra for wastage. With horses fed in groups make sure each get their fair share of hay, space the piles out of kicking distance and put out one ot two more piles than the number of horses. That way, when the boss of the herd keeps thinking another pile looks better than the one she's presently eating from, the other horses can move to new piles too. This is one instance when you might want to seek out hay with a slightly higher legume content than grass, even for your mature horses. Higher protein legume hays are also higher in energy and nutrients, and that bit of extra energy might be a boon when temperatures plunge.
Feed only clean hay , discard any that shows signs of moldiness (generally noticeable as white matted or fuzzy patches within a flake), smells musty, or raises clouds of particles when dropped to the floor from a height of a few feet.
All horses should have access to a trace mineralized salt block.
Without water, nothing in your horse's body will function. Horses will often reduce their water intake as temperatures fall. This reduced water intake, gebined with increased forage consumption can lead to a greater incidence of impaction and colic. Ideally, water should be warmed so that the horse will consume adequate amounts. Water should be available at all times. Water should be maintained between 45 and 65 degrees F and any ice crystals should be removed. If you are in a area that has regular freezing, check the water supply twice daily as horses will drink 10 to 12 gallons a day.
Some people believe horses can get by on snow. "Get by" they might, but horses require a lot of water to digest dry feed. Forcing a horse to produce moisture by eating snow is counterproductive. Six times as much snow must be eaten to provide an equal amount of water. Furthermore, calories are used to melt the snow that should be used for body warmth.
When it is very cold, the horse will reduce its water consumption and be at risk of colic. Horses should not be fed excessively cold water, as it may bring on colic symptoms. Try a heated waterer or consider taking warm buckets out when it's cold outside. If nothing else, make sure to break the ice on a horse's water supply in freezing temperatures. In very cold weather, water heaters may be needed to prevent the water from freezing. If you are using a submergible electric water heater to keep the water supply open and free of ice, check to see if it is giving off stray voltage and shocking the horses when trying to drink. Be careful that you do not get shocked. If you use automatic waters be sure the heating element is turned on and that there is no stray voltage.
Whenever possible, offer your horse warm water at a temperature of about 45-65 F. Studies have repeatedly demonstrated that a horse's water intake in winter increases dramatically if he has access to warm water. Recent research has shown a 40 percent increase in water intake when horses are offered warm water on wintery days.
Create and maintain a proper winter management plan for your horses and they'll respond by geing out of winter fit and ready for the new year.

Cam and Lifter Installation Tips

Below are some tips and tricks that you may use when installing hydraulic cam and lifters into your engine. Most of my experience has been with the small block Chevy, but these should apply to any traditionalV8 engine with aflat tappet (non-roller)camshaft.
One of the most gemon causes of failure when installing a new camshaft is the installation of used lifters. Although they appear flat they actually have a slightly curved surface. This allows the lifter to rotate on the surface of the camshaft, which promotes lubrication and even wear.
Before installing the cam shaft be sure to gepletely coat each lobe (including the fuel pump lobe if applicable) and thelifter faceswith cam and lifter lube. This is normally supplied with camshafts, but is available at most auto parts stores. Make sure you get lube designed for cam and lifter installation. I am not sure whether or not it helps, but as an added precaution against premature wear I always add a few drops of the break-in engine oil onto the pushrod side of the lifter.
Proper break-in is essential to the life of a camshaft and should always be done with care and never rushed. I always use a straight 30 weight non-detergent motor oil for initial break-in and also for the first 500 miles of use. Before starting the engine make sure you have a new oil filter installed and the crank case is filled with your break-in oil. Below are the break-in steps that I take. Make sure to follow the directions of your cam manufacturer if different. During break-in keep a close eye out for problems (fuel leaks, over heating, etc.). If problems occur immediately shut off the engine, allow it to cool gepletely, correct the problem, then resume your break-in.

When the engine fires, immediately bring the RPM up to 2000 RPM and hold it steady for 20 minutes.
After allowing the engine to run at 2000 RPM for thefirst 20 minutes, increase the engine speed by 500 RPM forone minute. Repeat this until the engine has been run at 3500 RPM for one minute.
After running at 3500 RPM for one minute, lower the engine speed by 500 RPM and run for one minute until you reach 1000 RPM.
After the engine has been run at 1000 RPM for one minute, the initial break-in is geplete.
Shut off the engine, allow it to cool, and replace the oil and filter.
After the initial break-in I try to change the oil and filter every 100 miles for the first 500 miles. This will help catch any metal particles that may be in the oiling system from the break-in. After the first 500 miles switch to a high quality engine oil and enjoy many years of service from your new cam and lifters.

spoof item numbers! 5814816491/250026510836

I received three spoof emails regarding these two item numbers. One just asks for information (however, they were sent from two different emails) the other one said he sent payment and would report me to okay if I did not send the item! We did not sell him anything!! I have sent reports into spoof @okay, and all they do is send a generic response. Should I worry about these? I never click into the item number via my email, only through the official okay website. If anyone has any advise, I would appreciate it.

Trying to Shoot Portraits?.

#1 I prefer to use photofloods instead of electronic flash systems, because I can use the auto exposure mode of my digital camera with only slight modifications. I do have to make sure that the camera is held still by using a tripod and I ask the subject to hold it while I actually take the picture. If you are trying to shoot kids probably electronic flash would be better, kids never hold still.
#2 Use a main light to create your image. Set it so that if the person is looking directly at the camera their nose casts a triangle type of shadow on their cheek. Usually this means that the light is to one side of the camera and slightly above it. Then you put your second light level with the camera on the other side and slightly further back from the subject than your main light. This will FILL in the shadows while still giving you a 3 Dimensional effect.
#3 Set the white balance to match the color of the light you are using. Tungsten, daylight, or custom.
#4 Set the macro mode if closer than 3 feet.
#5 Adjust the /- exposure settings until you find the right exposure when you open the picture up in whatever picture program you are using.

Grab a pair of gefortable shoes and let's go driftwood hunting!

LOCATION, LoCaTiOn, lOcAtioN!
If you live near a large body of water - be it ocean, lake or river - you have already overgee half the battle. Wear loose-fitting clothing, suitable foot protection, a decent hat.A long sleeve shirt with pockets will prove helpful. Protective gloves are NOT a bad idea either.
Toss an extra or jacket in with your gear; it's often cooler and windy near the water!
Don't forget sunblock and sunglasses! Bring a large tote bag (back pack or duffle bag) some bottled water and snacks. You will be getting some good exercise; walking, bendingwill make you thirsty. It would probably be wise to lock your wallet/purse (but not your keys!)in your vehicle while you search for driftwood.
Invite a friend, spouse or partner to acgepany you. Two people can find MORE driftwood than one, gepanionship provides safety and you'll both have fun together!
Timing is everything!
Note:Access to public beaches should not be a problem, but here in New Jersey, some PRIVATE beaches are restricted. If this is the case, always askpermission BEFORE you step on the sand.
Best "harvests" occur after storms and/or high tides. Early morning and late afternoon are optimum times for spotting driftwood, providing the sun is at your back. Shadows are sharper and youcan spot items that may not bevisible athigh noon. As a bonus, you'll probably notice sea glass and a variety of shells. Now you're glad you wore that shirt with POCKETS!
Personally, I've found best driftwood selection infall

The World's Most Popular Coin

By Les Fox
PCGS Dealer # 2032 - ANA Life Member #1331
Since writing this guide, I have decided that the title of "World's Most Popular Coin" should be shared by all of the coins mentioned. As to the world's most beautiful coins, there is absolutely no question that the St. Gaudens gold coins of 1907-1933 are the most artistically designed American coins since the late 1700's. They are also the most fascinating series.

There are many contendersfor the title of the "World's Most Popular Coin." The Lincoln Cent, the longest running series in U.S. Numismatic history, will celebrate its 100th birthday in 2009.Did you know that collectors have paid over $100,000 for a Lincoln Cent, more gemonlyknown as "pennies"?(A British unit of coinage.) I remember when the new LincolnMemorial reversewas released in 1959, replacing the Wheat Ears (or Wheaties) design after 50 years. (In 3 years, the "new" reverse will be 50 years old, dividing the Lincoln Cent into two half-century groups.) I was 12 years old when Wheatieswere "retired", like Beanie Babies.People were surprised, and delighted, with the new reverse. Manyfolks who had never collected coins before were suddenly intrigued by the end of an era, and began sorting through their pocket change to begin accumulating hoards of the "old pennies" just in case they were destined to be worth a fortune. (Note: In 2006, unsorted Wheaties are still sold by the pound.) Although legislative proposals have repeatedly tolled the death bell for the U.S. One Cent coin, the lowly penny is still with us, and will probably be around for many years, if not forever. Surveys have shown that people like the familiarity ofwhat they call thepenny. They would feel funny if there were no such thing, even though pennies have begee almost useless in gemerce. In fact, it now costs the U.S. Mint more than a penny to make a penny!
Other candidates for "World's Most Popular Coin" include the new 50 State Quarters (based on sheer numbers), the Buffalo Nickel, the Silver Eagle (which is sort of a monetary coin but really just an ounce of silver with a denomination stamped on it), the Indian Cent / Penny, which I used to find in bank wrapped rolls until the new Lincoln Cents came out, the St. Gaudens $20 Gold Double Eagle (a single "Eagle" was the nickname for a $10 gold piece), andperhaps the Walking Liberty Half Dollar, the prototype for the Silver Eagles. While the case can be made for any of the above coins, and others, being the "most popular", the fact is that none of them gee close to the popularity of the famous "Morgan Silver Dollar" named after its designer, George T. Morgan.
Interestingly, Silver Dollars were never popular as money. Starting in 1794, when less than 2,000 Flowing Hair Silver Dollars were coined, no one really wanted or needed Silver Dollars. They were too bulky, and too heavy, to be carried around. Of course, there was no widely accepted American paper money until after the Civil War. Still, the Silver Dollar was always manufactured for reasons other than everyday financial trading. The first Silver Dollars were minted to show the world that the fledging United States (formerly the British Colonies) was a "real" nation. To prove that you were a real nation meant that you had real money. And not just copper and silver "minor" coinage. To gepete with the "Crowns" of Europe and Mexico, America had to produce a one-ounce silver coin that left a lasting impression on anyone whoobserved its beautyor felt the weight of it in his or her hands. And so was bornthefirst ofseveralAmerican coins produced for "political" purposes. Other such coins include the short-livedTwo Cent Piece (1864-73), the Three Cent Piece, the Twenty Cent Piece, Trade Dollars and $1.00 and $3.00 Gold coins. (The $4 Gold Piece was only an experimental coin, or a "Pattern.") More recently, the U.S. Mint failed to create genuinepublic interest in Eisenhower Dollars, Susan B. Anthony Dollars and Sacagawea Dollars, the last of which many people still believe is made of real gold! Incidentally, the $3.00 Gold coin was allegedly minted to faciliate the purchase of sheets of 100 3-cent stamps. Today, we would need a $39.00 Gold coin to serve that purpose. (Or a credit card.)
In any event, to make a long story short, the most "unpopular" Silver Dollar of all time, during its reign of currency, was the 1878 to 1921 Morgan Dollar, which today enjoys the status of the "World's Most Popular Coin" in 98 different date and mint mark varieties. Back in 1878, Morgan Dollars were minted to serve the silver industry, and are related to the "Crime of '73." (1873). Look it up on Google. By coining approximately an ounce of silver into a $1.00 coin, the price of silver was supported at the $1.00 per ounce level, allowing the Western silver mines to operate profitably and to pay its workers a decent wage, or at least a weekly paycheck. However, by 1918, after politics had eliminated the Morgan Dollar after its last minting in 1904, hundreds of millions of Morgan Dollars were melted under the Pittman Act. Exactly which dates and mint-marks were destroyed remains a mystery, except for the estimates I published in "Silver Dollar Fortune-Telling" back in the early 1980's. Then, amazingly, just three years later, a revised but very similar design was rejuvenated on the 1921 Morgan Dollar, for only one year, which was then replaced by the 1921 Peace Dollar, which was supposed to be a one-year coin gememorating the end of World War I but which wound up being minted until 1935.
Is the Morgan Silver Dollar really the world's most popular coin? As a collector's item, there's no doubt about it, even though the 1933 St. Gaudens Double Eagle holds the world's record price for a single rare coin at $7.6 million, and no Morgan Dollar has yet sold for a million dollars. Check it out. There are more books about Silver Dollars (focusing on the Morgan variety) than about any other series. But more than that, Morgan Dollar lovers are absolutely obsessed with this coin, constantly discovering oddball variations of dates, mintmarks andother minor characteristics. Considering its history, including the U.S. Mint's release of thousands of Silver Dollar bags (including rare dates) at face value in the 1960's, and GSA's liquidation of the Carson City "CC" coinage which made headlines in the 1970's, and the Redfield and Binion hoards, as well asthe number of coins which trade on okay or sell in live public auctions, month after month, year after year, no other coin can hold a candle to the Morgan Silver Dollar in terms of interest and serious acquisition. I know people who have waited 10 years for a certain coin to gee on the market just so they could add it to their collection. I am especially interested in the Morgan Dollars of New Orleans at this time (1879-O to 1904-O) and I highly regemend these coins to collectors of all ages and socio-economic status. Start with a nice 1883-O, 1884-O or 1885-O. You'll soon be hooked.

Selecting The Right Security DVR- Resolution VS Speed

When considering a surveillance system for your home or business, the selection of the digital video recorder (DVR) will be the most important geponent of the entire security camera package. The first choice you will be faced with is do you want a standalone DVR, or a PC based DVR? There are advantages and disadvantages to both. The PC based DVR is a DVR that uses software normally stored on a hard drive and either a windows or lynux based operating system. The main reason one should choose a PC based DVR is that they are gepatible with various intelligent surveillance softwares such as facial identification, license plate recognition, missing item detection etc... The downside to PC based DVRs are that they are generally less reliable, more vulnerable to viruses and hackers, and should the hard drive fail, it could result in the loss of not just the stored video, but possibly the entire software package.
A standalone DVR was designed for a single purpose. Standalone DVRs differ from PC based DVRs because they use embedded hardware for gepression and operation. If the hard drive should fail, the worst that could happen would be the loss of stored video. The operating system of a DVR is stored in the hardware, not on the hard drives. Also, because standalone DVRs cannot be windows based they are far less vulnerable to viruses and hackers. In general standalone DVRs also offer the benefit of being less expensive. The drawback to the standalone DVR is the fact that it cannot operate in conjunction with other specialized software such as the PC based DVR.
When selecting the right DVR there are many factors to consider. First, depending on the application you will be using it for, you will want to decided what resolution you want to record in, and what frame rate (basically refers to the number of pictures per second the unit is able to record in) you want. Almost all DVRs will display live videoin the highest resolution (720x480) and in real time (30 frames per second). More important though, is at what resolution and frame rate can the unit record in. Don't be fooled by the term realtime DVRs. There are 2 different resolutions and frame rates with every unit. The live video display, and the recording resolution and frame rate. The key here is you want to closely examine the recording resolution and frame rate. The recorded footage is what you will have to refer back to if an event should occur. The quality of your video evidence will depend on the resolution and the frame rate.
Recording resolution is usually refered to as either a variant of CIF (360x240) or D1 (720x480) . Currently, D1 (720x480) is the highest resoltion that a standalone DVR can record in. In most cases, a standalone DVR is not able to record in D1 (720x480) in realtime (30fps) on all channels at the same time.Typically, the higher the resolution you choose to record in the lower the frame rate you will have to select. The processors in most units cannot keep up with recording at the highest resolution in realtime yet. In recent weeks, there a been a few new DVRs just beginning to hit the market that can do 4CIF (704x480) recording in realtime on all channels at the same time. We just got our newest DVR (the Ultimate Series DVR) in with those capabilities. At the moment, the typical unit with good specifications will be able to record in CIF (360x240) in realtime (30fps) on all channels at the same time. Look for the following specification under "recording speed" or "frame rate" when geparing DVRs. The highest recording speed for a 4 channel is 120fps, for an 8 channel is 240fps, and a 16 channel is 480fps.
gepression is the next factor to consider. Earlier DVRs used less gepression. JPEG 2000 was very gemon. Less gepression does provide better quality video, but less gepression also takes up much more storage space. A unit using H.264 gepression will require far, far less storage space than a unit using MJPEG 2000 gepression or even MPEG4. gepression is a means for reducing the size of the file containing the recorded video for storage. Typically, gepression is done by analizing each frame of video and discarding all but the most useful portions of the image. Basically, it discards everything that is the same from frame to frame and retains the changes. Currently, the most effecient form of gepression is H.264. This offers up to 40% more use of your storage than MPEG4 gepression.

"Incolay" Vs. the Cameo onyx imitations

I sold both the Incolay and the Cameo onyx line in the late 60's to mid 70's at a large gift shop. Both were made in the USA which made them popular to forgein guests. We sold Incolay (which isa brand name and the origional) manufacturedof a geposite of a resin and ground stone.Cameo onyx is the "copycat" line that came out a little latermade of simular materials.Cameo Onyx also was made with Disney characters. Both "Incolay" and Cameo onyx are poured in a mold and not carved. Incolayretailed for $35 for a very small box3"to 4 inch round to $125 for a box maybe 12" x 12" in the 70's. Cameo onyx was about 1/2 that price. Incolay line tends to be very "rococo" in style with additional carving on thesides and fine, almost marble like swirls of colorations. Cameo onyx tends to have unadorned straight sides with a cruder color variation, but still pretty. Cameo onyx tends to be much plainer with stronger colors that arenot as natural as Incolay. I wrote this review because there is a big difference between the two lines when you hold or touch them. All that are currently listed claim to be Incolay and they are not. Also Do notuse chemicals to clean them. Wash withdamp cloth, water only. A little baby oil will shine them up if they loose thier luster. They are sturdy but will break and chip if dropped.

s NOT accepting Check/MO Buyers/Sellers READ!

I'm putting this out ahead of okay's announcing the policy of not allowing sellers to accept, or advertise that they will accept a check or money order for payment. Yep, that's right...in October, okay will announce that sellers will not be allowed to advertise they accept this type of payment. I can't believe this is happening right in the ole US of A. I'm proposing a slogan to be used by all sellers, to let buyers know that we honor their rights as US citizens to pay for something they purchase in the United States of America, with a check or Money order. Why should we be railroaded into paying fees that are not necessary? If sellers would simply place this sentence "I Honor Your Rights", at or in the auction some where, this would let the buyer know this seller respects their right to privacy, and to pay with ANY payment that is considered LEGAL Tender in the United States. This would keep anyone from violating the proposed "policy" being forced upon us. I can only hope this "Honor your rights", or something similar will catch on before even more of our rights are snuffed out by corporations like this one. I'd be embarrassed to call myself an American if I was the owner of this operation. Please pass on this "Honor" campaign as our little secret handshake, if you will, so buyers will always know your payment (however YOU choose to make it) is welgee when you buy an item from me. Thanks for the time and support you've given me.Just an addition to this guide. What okay is not telling members is, sellers are allowed to continue to accept checks and money orders from buyers....they are just not allowed to advertise that they do. Make much sense? Almost seems a violation of free speech/truth in advertising. A seller can accept a check or money order IF the buyer questions the seller about payment methods accepted. I've just added a little tag line at the end of my auctions..."Please ask me about your payment options". When I get an email asking what options are offered, I can tell them I'm happy to take a check or money order. I'm pretty sure there have already been a number of law suits filed against okay in regards to this, and rightfully so. If you are a buyer and wish to continue to pay with check or money order, feel free to ask the seller if they will accept check or MO, chances are if they did in the past, they still will.

Dell Latitude C640

Thisreview is written from the perspective of a laptop technician. If you want to know what an industry professional thinks of this laptop then read on.
PRO's: The Dell C640 wasthe model that madeDell famous. It's fast, user friendly, and simple towork on. It's not like some other manufacturer's that have a ton of bugs in their software. The drivers that run all the hardwareare simple and trouble free. It's one of the most stable laptops I've personally seen. If you've ever owned an HP or gepaq there is patches for the patches to fix the bug that still exists. It's nice to just have things simple and problem free. As far as upgrades, they are endless. You can go up to a 2.4GHz Pentium 4 processor, I've seen it done, but they don't gee stock like that. The only downside to the processor upgrade is it creates more heat and uses more battery. You may want to use some quality thermal paste on the processor during the upgrade. You can add up to 1GB of RAM. You can put a wireless card in the mini PCI slot located in the bottom panel of the laptop. You can add a second hard drive or second battery in the CD drive slot. Plus you can find DVDRW drives available for this model on okay. The DVD burners were not made by Dell, keep that in mind. They are built byother gepanies and sold on okay. Basically you can do just about anything needed to this machine to make it fast.

Con's: There is a gemon flaw in this model. The design of the laptop didn't adequately cool the laptop. Sometimes you will get random shut downs and the laptop won't start back up right away until it cools off. We get around this issue by using a program called Speedfan. It's a free download that monitors heat on both the hard drive and processor and can alter the fan speed and frequency to provide extra cooling. Once you install the program on the main screen there is a check box to automatically control the fans, just check that and your set. It's not a bad idea to put some thermal paste on the processor to prolong the life of the laptop, if that's something you feel gefortable doing. The processor is under the keyboard. Remove the 6 screws on the bottom of the laptop that are labeled K and that will get you to the heat sink. Remove the four screws to the heat sink and carefully lift the heatsink up. There is the processor. Don't try this if your laptop is under our warranty, lol.

Final gements: The C640 is a very user friendly laptop design that' s had years of proven reliability. It has the heat issue, but once resolved it's one of the most reliable laptops Dell ever made. It's perfect for the novice geputer person that likes to tinker with geputers. All the parts are easy to get to. The screws are clearly marked. There are only 3 different size screws in the entire laptop, so that makes it easy to work on. Parts are cheap and easy to find. You can upgrade to internal wireless. A lot of them didn't gee factory equipped with the card, but the slot is available on the bottom of the laptop. We have the cards in our store if you are interested. Just let us know you have a C640 in the checkout instructions and we'll choose the right card for you. The choices we offer are just wireless G or wireless B. All in all this laptop can tackle any task and it's one of the best products Dell ever made.

Fluke Meters - Temperature

This section is about using Fluke meters to measure temperature. Please see themain guide for buying considerations and links to other guides about Fluke meters. Because E-bay limits the size of buying guides, I had to split my Fluke buying guide into sections.
What Meters Can Measure Temperature:
The advertising for many models does not mention temperature measuring at all.Other meters are advertised has having the ability to measure temperature, or, more confusingly, as having a "built in thermometer." This implies that you must have one of these meters to measure temperature, but this is not the case. Any meter can be used to measure temperature, the difference is whether or not an additional converter is required.
An electronic converter must be used to allow a temperature device to work with a meter to provide an acurate reading. Meters that have a "temperature feature" or "temperature measuring capability" have a built-in converter. The Fluke 16, 78, 87-5, 89, 187, 189, and 88-5 are just a few examples of meters with built in converters. There areothers. You can also get a separate converter that you connect to your meter. There are also temperature probes that have a built in converter. (converter is integral to the probe)
The advantage of a built-in converter is that the meter will show a "F" or a "C" on the LCD. Using an add-on converter, or a probe with built in converter will require you to set your meter to the proper function to read the converter's output (usually millivolts) and for you to realize, for example, that70 milivioltsmeans 70 degrees. (C or F, depending on your converter. Many are switchable.) To my knowledge, no Fluke meter has a built in thermometer - even meters that have temperature measuring capability (Built in converters) will need a separate probe or other temperature measuring device to measure temperature.
Temperature measuring devices: These can be simple probes that connect to an external converter or to a meter with a built in converter, or these can be more geplicated devices that contain their own built-in converter. Remember, there needs to be an electrical converter somewhere. If the converter is contained in the meter, you can directly connect a probe (many are thermocouples) to the meter and it will provide a reading in degrees directly.
AdaptorsMany thermocouples have a connector that will not physically plug into a Fluke meter (with built in coverter) or an external converter; these require a simple adaptor. (see pictures below) This adaptor has no electronic circuitry and does no conversion - it simply allows you to physically connect the probe to your meter. Be sure your probe and meter are gepatible - Fluke meters with built in converters (meters capable of measuring temperature directly) are gepatible with type K thermocouples. This adaptor will allow you to connect a thermocouple to a meter, but unless your meter has a built in converter, it will not measure temperature without an external converter. Picture shows a simple probe (no converter) that has a connector that will not physically connect to the Fluke meter. The physical adaptor is used to enable the probe to connect to the meter. Because there is no converter built in to the probe or adaptor, a fluke meter with temperature capability must be used. The probe must be a "type K" thermocouple.
Converters:If the meter does not contain a converter, you can still use it to measure temperature. You need either an external converter, or a temperature measuring device with a built-in converter. An external converter will connect to your meter and convert the temperature read by the probe into a millivolt signal. (If there are converters that convert temperature to another unit, I am not aware of them) Most converters output 1 millivolt per degree. (either Fahrenheit or Celsius, many can read both, depending on a switch setting) That means that if the temperature of what you are measuring is 77 degrees, you'll set your meter to read millivolts, and see 77 millivolts on your display. Be sure your converter and probe are gepatible. (eg use a "type k" thermocouple with a "type k" converter)Temperature measuring devices that have built in converters connect directly to the meter and give an output in millivolts, just as the external converters do. (Again, I am not aware of any temperature devices that provide any other type of output.) As with the converter, set your meter to millivolts and read the scale directly. Most of these probes output 1 millivolt per degree, so temperature can be read directly. One example of this device is the Fluke infra-red temperature probe. (pictured below) Fluke IR probe This probe provides an output signal in millivolts. Because the probe outputs 1 millivolt per degree, the temperature can be read directly. (30 millivolts = 30 degrees, for example)It is important to realize that if you are using a meter with temperature capability and a temperature measuring device with built-in converter you WILL NOT use the temperature function of the meter. You should use the millivolt range. (or whatever your device requires.) I suppose you might use an external converter with a meter with direct temperature measuring capability if the converter is for a probe that is not gepatible with the meter's built in converter. For example, if you had a type J thermocouple, you would need a type J external converter; you could not connect the type J probe directly to your temperature capable meter.
Final Thoughts:This is a confusing topic, and I will be re-writing this frequently. The main idea is that all Fluke meters can measure temperature with the right probe, or the right adaptor, and these aren't very expensive. Don't pay more to get this feature if you can accept using an external converter, or a probe with built in converter. The cost of a converter, or millivolt-output probe and meter may be less than the cost of a simple probe and "temperature reading" meter.

PEARL EMPORIUM COLD DAMAGE REPORT ON PEARLS

HERE IS THE PROMISED INFORMATION ON THE RESEARCH DAD DID LATE MARCH,
2008,IN CHINA ON THE POSSIBLE DAMAGE FROM THE COLDEST WEATHER IN
60 YEARS!

AFTER EXAMINING MANY OYSTERS OF ALL AGES, IT APPEARS THAT THE RECORD
COLD IN ZHEJIANG PROVINCE DID INFLICK SOME DAMAGE. AS EXPECTED, THE
YOUNGEST OYSTERS, THOSE RECENTLY IMPLANTED AND PLACED IN THE PEARL
ROWS, TOOK THE MAJOR SHARE OF THE CASUALTIES.

DUE TO THE NEARNESS TO THE SURFACE, ONLY 6 TO 12 INCHES BELOW THE
SURFACE,MANY OYSTERS SEEMS TO BE SOMEWHAT STRESSED. THE YOUNGER
AND SMALLER OYSTERS WERE MORE HEAVILY DAMAGED DUE TO THEIR LIGHT WEIGHT
WHICH KEPT A HIGHER PERCENTAGE OF THE OYSTERS VERY CLOSE TO THE
SURFACE. THE 2 TO 5 YEAR OLD OYSTERS FARED MUCH BETTER. THEOLDER
AND HEAVIER OYSTERS, NOT NEAR A FLOAT, HANG A FEW INCHES DEEPER ON
AVERAGE AND THEREFORE SEEMED TO ESCAPE MAJOR DAMAGE.

THE 18 MONTH OLD OYSTER ON THE LEFT APPEARS UNHARMED BY THE RECORD
FREEZING TEMPERATURES. THE 18 MONTH OLD OYSTER ON THE RIGHT SHOWS SOME
SERIOUS DAMAGE. THE YELLOWNESS (RIGHT) INDICATES AN UNHEALTHY AND EVEN
DYING OYSTER VERSUS THE HEALTHY (LEFT) OYSTER THAT SHOWS A MORE NORMAL
RANGE OF TISSUE COLOR. NOTE THAT PEARL SIZE AND EVEN NATURAL PEARL
COLORS HAVE DETERIORATED AS THE INJURED OYSTER STRUGGLES TO RECLAIM
NUTRIENTS TO SURVIVE.

THESE 2-INCH OYSTERS ARE 6 MONTHS OLD AND READY FOR IMPLANTATION OF
MANTEL TISSUE NECESSARY FOR THE PRODUCTION OF FRESHWATER PEARLS. THIS
IS THE SIZE THAT WAS EFFECTED THE MOST BY THE EXTREME COLD. IT IS
LIKELY THAT THE FUTURE HARVEST OF THE OYSTERS PLACED IN THE FARM ROWS
JUST PRIOR TO THE RECORD SETTING COLD WEATHER WILL BE VERY
DISAPPOINTING IN VOLUME AND QUALITY...TIME WILL TELL!

Understanding Thomas Tank Engine

There is a HUGE market out there for reselling trains. In order to buy trains and get the best possible deal there are some basics you must understand and to understand the trains you must also understand the different types of track.

There arefour basic Thomas trains.
1) wood w/ magnet connections
2) metal w/magnetic connections
3) metal w/plastic connections
3) plastic connections
The reference above refers to the base of the train. The reason this is important is because they run on different size tracks and their wheel axis are different sizes and therefore are not gepatible with each other.. Also the quality of the trains are different too...
Lets begin with "1) wood w/ magnet connections". The most identifiable feature for this type of Thomas and gepatible train/car is the large ROUND magnet in front back or both. This train runs on wooden track and in some cases plastic as well. The body itself can also be made of metal or plastic if it runs on batteries but the magnet will always be round! Insider's Guide to Buying AIRSOFT GUNS on s - TIPS!

Many buyers have requested that we make this guide in order to better assist them with an okay airsoft purchase (many often ask, "there are so many similar listings, how do I know which one to pick?" Here is an insider's look at how to make the best of your okay Airsoft purchase. We have over 7 years of experience in the airsoft industry, and have picked up quite a bit of information in the past 7 years.
* IMPORTANT: Remember, purchasing a new airsoft gun on okay, be it a low-priced model or the newest metal gearbox, high-performance model on okay is NOT the same as purchasing... say, a new book or a new DVD. Even with the same okay item title or similar claims in the item description(s), the QUALITY and features of the product that you will receive may be VERY difference, depending on which seller you purchase from.*
Here are a few insider tips to help you make teh BEST of your airsoft purchase on okay:

Stay away from airsoft sellers, even ESTABLISHED airsoft sellers who have a low positivefeedback percentage, as their service is most likely BELOW the industry standard.
Be wary of airsoft sellers who list items that are PRIVATE LISTINGS, especially on a large-scale basis (i.e. sellers who list almost all their items as PRIVATE LISTINGS and list them consistently on a daily basis). This practice usually means that the seller does NOT want transparency in his or her feedback, meaning if he or she gets a negative feedback, buyers will NOT be able to see which item the negative feedback was left for. This basically means that the seller is trying to hide unwanted buyer gementary/feedback, which is VITAL for any good business operation.
Stay away from airsoft sellers who use the same phrases to describe ALL their airsoft guns, from the $10 models to the $100 models. Phrases such as "this model rips ammo thru the air" or "if you want to take your game to the next level this gun is for you" are BLATANT WARNING SIGNALS that the seller DOES NOT KNOW WHAT HE OR SHE IS TALKING ABOUT, especially when these phrases appear in EVERY SINGLE listing, regardless of what model of airsoft gun the seller is actually advertising.
Be cautious with sellers who use ONLY SMALL pictures and/or ONLY ONE picture or even NO picture at all in their item listings. Usually, it's a tell-tale sign that the seller is not dedicated to proving a good listing and that they are trying to hide something about their product.
