Sonicwall firewall device - Can't register if used

Note of Caution:
I was recently encouraged by attractive prices to acquire via okay an older SonicWall(www-SonicWall-ge) SOHO/10 device. I am familiar with the device and we have a couple of them in use at client sites. Sadly SonicWall refused (not just one but several requests) to allow us to register the device and upgrade it's firmware.
So be warned that un-used and no lower supported SonicWall equipment may not be a wise investment.
