Buyer Beware Fireplace Sales on Internet

Let the buyer beware when buying fireplaces on the internet. Most manufacturers ban this practice. Those that don't usually discourage it. The reason they do so is to protect their image and save them the cost of having to warranty their product. Most will not warranty their product if not installed by a factory authorized installer. If they do warranty their product, it is not possible for a dealer to service it accross the country or the world. Therefore, the labor which is the most expensive part of most warranty claims is left up to you the buyer. That is if you can find someone to service it. Don't expect your local dealer to service a fireplace that you did not purchase from them. Many dealers will flat out refuse to service your fireplace if not purchased from them. Those that do will probably charge you dearly. If you would still like to purchase your fireplace over the internet, I suggest you buy it from a dealer close enough to you that they will service it after they sell it. Otherwise any apparentsavings may turn out to be a nightmare resulting in a fireplace that does not work or an expense that is much higher than that if you had bought your fireplace from a brick and mortar store. BUYER BEWARE.
